EnviroReport is a free application created by the ChicAgo Center for Health and EnvironmenT (CACHET), Audacious Software, and the University of Southern California (USC) Southern California Environmental Health Sciences Center (SCEHSC) to support members of local communities document and report environmental incidents that they encounter in their daily lives. This SERVICE is provided at no cost and is intended for use as is.
This document is intended to inform visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decides to use our Service.
Information Collection and Use
While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with location data to identify the location of environmental incidents. You may also choose to provide additional personally identifiable information to allow us to follow-up for additional information and to provide updates about your incident reports.
When you use our Service, in case of an error in the app we collect data and information (through our own and third party products) on your device called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilizing our Service, the time and date of your use of the Service, and other statistics. This Log Data is used for the purposes of troubleshooting problems and identifying possible improvements, as well as measuring application usage and engagement in both individual and aggregate contexts. Log Data containing engagement information is not transmitted to third parties and is accessible only by the EnviroReport staff.
Data Storage and Transmission
Data about your application usage and information related to incidents will be stored on your personal device in order to assist in proper operation of the Service. This information will be sent to a remote server wholly controlled and operated by the EnviroReport staff to enable analyses of the Service and its users.
If you use the Service to submit environmental incident reports you can also submit this, information to the appropriate local public agencies, allowing them to record and address the incident. Information that sent to these agencies may include your name and contact information if you wish to be contacted in follow-up. After receiving information from the Service, representatives of environmental agencies may then contact you to follow up on your report. You have the option of not giving the agency your name but, in that case, you will not receive a follow-up on your report.
We may employ third-party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:
- To facilitate our Service;
- To provide the Service on our behalf;
- To perform Service-related services; or
- To assist us in analyzing how our Service is used.
These third parties will not have access to your Personal Information.
We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
